Decide what qualities are most important to you and also know what you don't want. Take time to interview your agent to determine their experience in the industry, knowledge about your local market, technology skills, marketing ideas and communication style. A way to narrow your search is to ask your family and friends for referrals!

It is your real estate agent's job to make sure that you know and understand all aspects of your transaction. Your agent should thoroughly review all contracts with you and explore all of your options. If there is something you don't understand, ASK!

It is a good idea to get pre-approved with a mortgage lender early in the process so you can be ready to move forward when you find a home you would like to purchase. Price isn't the only thing to consider, think about what marketing, communication, and selling for "top dollar" means for you. In order for your agent to get you the sale you desire, sharing the most information upfront is beneficial for everyone.
